The legendary Truxton (or Tatsujin to the Japanese market) returns in a beautiful – but still as challenging – high-definition outing.
Truxton holds a high reputation within STG circles, and the console release of the original was one of the first games I played on the Mega Drive. It’s a personal honour to be asked by Clear River Games to create the website.
The assets were primarily a few different hero images of the spaceships in front of the planet, and obvious star field background, as well as a trailer and screenshots. Having access to the beta builds also helped inform typography and colour choices.
I wanted to try and inject some style and movement into what might have otherwise been quite a static website, and added the parallax scrolling for the three ships and logo, to add that depth and deliver more. I also thought it’d be bold to add the quartered steel door unlocking when the visitor arrives at the page, mimmicking the game’s opening.
If you like shmups, the game is available to wishlist on Steam now!
