After moving back to my home town, and wanting to work with studios close to home, I started attending a game dev meet up ran by Marek. I’m a believer in supporting events and causes in your locale, otherwise they’ll with and die in favour of larger national events. Plus you’ll meet a lot of interesting people and have a beer…

After attending a couple of paid events I was impressed by Marek’s drive and ambition for pushing the event further, and offered to help with the web presence if needed. Marek came back and asked about branding, and I suggested he speak to my good friend Simon at Smiling Wolf – another believer in growing local talent and events.

Smiling Wolf produced the excellent brand direction and application guidelines, and tightened the name up to Liv Games Network. Designing and building the website following their visual direction was a joy. I dropped in to see Simon and Scott and show them the plans for the site, to make sure everyone was on board, they were really pleased with how it was looking.

My favourite part of this project was integrating the Eventbrite events into the page automatically. Marek uses Eventbrite for all free and paid meet ups and events, so why make him enter information twice in two places. Always an opportunity for human error – or more likely – it becomes a chore and never gets updated on the site.

Working with DEKIRU was great. I mapped out my idea for the site (with my very limited knowledge) and Jake was able to build it quickly, efficiently and professionally.

Jake’s eye for design is also a great asset and has helped me gain a better understanding of what to look for as I continue to populate the site.

Marek — Founder / Liv Games Network

Marek’s over the moon with the branding from Smiling Wolf and design and build from Dekiru. Job well done, and a feel-good-factor for working with cool shit happening in my area.
