Everyone’s favorite tail-whipping, channel-surfing gecko is back!

Gex, a gaming hero from the 90s, was brought back to life with an LRG Carbon Engine powered release, and the world needed to know about it!

The marketing team at LRG supplied the beautiful header above and a super hi-res layered file of Gex bursting through dimenions, and well, the hero area kinda designed itself from there!

Having been a gamer and web designer/developer in the late 90s, I dug out a few old magazines for stylistic references and went all out to capture that PlayStation era vibe with bright colours and vibrant backgrounds.

To catch the eye and add movement, I created several separate layers of the Gex graphic, and animated them to give the illusion of Gex jumping through the time warp in to the page.

Jake’s attention to detail and work-ethic is a treat, and I wouldn’t have it any other way. One project that comes to mind and truly captures the understanding of what was requested is what he has done with GEX Trilogy. As a result, I know that checking my watch is futile, because it’s always TAIL TIME!
